Warlocks Extras for the Grey Dragon World (2+)

21 mins read

Special Rule

Warlocks of the Grey Dragon World before the era of the Gates cannot choose a warlock patron that is not residing in this plane, for example, a  Celestial or Fiend. The rest is as is in the official handbooks (see details in the warlock 5e wikidots).

More LOCAL Warlock Patrons!

At the beginning of the age of gates, both Sharn and Phaerimm are creating Warlocks in the Grey Dragon World.

Phaerimm are actively seeking a new home and an escape from their prison. Phaerimm warlocks are almost never part of the Wizardland hierarchy, and their subclass can be found here in our Homebrew. Additionally, when they use the banishment spell they can choose to send somebody to the Phaerimm prison.

The Sharn warlocks are hunting down the Phaerimm warlocks. They have infiltrated the Wizardlander hierarchy and attempting to locate Phaerimm agents through this network. Their subclass is Hexblade or Great ancient ones. While using Polymorph (via spell/invocation or item) they treat the Sharn as a beast.

Warlocks in General – and Specifically

Warlocks are a unique and versatile class in this world and in Dungeons & Dragons 5e. They are characterized by their mysterious and otherworldly powers. It is a class that requires careful consideration, as it has strengths and weaknesses that must be considered.

Powers and Abilities

The defining feature of the Warlock class is its access to magic through a pact with a powerful exotic entity. This pact provides Warlocks with a variety of powers, including the ability to cast spells, summon creatures, and make deals with their patron for additional benefits. Warlocks have a limited number of spell slots, but they can also regain expended spell slots through a short rest.

In addition to their spells, Warlocks also have unique class features, such as Eldritch Invocations, that allow them to customize their powers and abilities. Warlock Invocations 5e offer a wide range of options, from improving the range and power of your spells to granting you the ability to fly or see in darkness.

Playstyle for Warlocks 5e

Warlock is a class that can be played in a variety of ways, depending on your preferred playstyle. Warlocks can be played as a spellcaster, focusing on casting spells and summoning creatures to deal damage to enemies.

They can also be played as supporting characters, using their spells to aid allies and disrupt enemies. Warlocks can also be played as a hybrid, combining elements of both a spellcaster and supporting characters. Sometimes they can be played like a front line fighter like a hexblade warlock 5e

Regardless of your preferred playstyle, Warlocks are a flexible class that can be adapted to fit a variety of roles in a party.

Strengths and Weaknesses

One of the biggest strengths of the Warlock class is its versatility. Warlocks have access to a wide range of spells and abilities, allowing them to fill a variety of roles in a party. They also have the ability to customize their powers and abilities through Eldritch Invocations, making it possible to tailor your character to fit your preferred playstyle.

However, Warlocks also have some weaknesses that must be taken into account. They have a limited number of spell slots, which can limit their ability to cast spells in combat. They also rely on the whims of their patron spells, which can make them vulnerable if their patron is attacked or defeated.

In conclusion, the Warlock class in Dungeons & Dragons 5e is a unique and versatile class with a wide range of powers and abilities. It is a class that requires careful consideration, as it has both strengths and weaknesses that must be taken into account. Whether you prefer to play as a spellcaster, support character, or hybrid, the Warlock class can be adapted to fit your preferred playstyle.

Conclusion

Worocks before the Gates in this world are a bit limited, but after the gates open they are limitless and enriched!

What other than Charisma is essential to a Warlock?

Constitution, without question you need both the hit-points and the Concentration Save. Intelligence might work but only for RP reasons.

Why are Sharn and Phaerimm coming to this world?

Phaerimm of Toril have been imprisoned for too long. Their immense magical prowess cannot but give them opportunities to escape, but they know that in Toril the Sharn and their allies will never let them escape. Going to another world might be a way out.

What race is best for Warlock 5E?

Well, before the gates opened, I would go with Humans, the extra 1st level feat can be used for an extra invocation which does wonders! After the opening of the gates, I would say… have fun with a Ratfolk!

Are Warlocks underpowered?

Nope! They are dope! (Ikkkk) Yeah, I know, too few spells, but, a short rest replenishes, and all spells are upcast and at the highest level possible!

Are all Warlocks evil 5E?

No, not all Warlocks in 5th edition (5E) of the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing game are inherently evil. The alignment of a Warlock character is determined by the player and can range from good to evil, lawful to chaotic, and anywhere in between.

Eldritch Invocations

If an eldritch invocation has prerequisites, you must meet them to learn it. You can learn the invocation at the same time that you meet its requirements. A level prerequisite refers to your level in this class.

Agonizing Blast

When you cast an eldritch blast, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.

Armor of Shadows

Prerequisite: Pact of the Tome feature
You can now inscribe magical rituals in your Book of Shadows. Choose two 1st-level spells that have the ritual tag from any class’s spell list (the two needn’t be from the same list). The spells appear in the book
and don’t count against the number of spells you know. With your Book of Shadows in hand, you can
cast the chosen spells as rituals.

You can’t cast the spells except as rituals, unless you’ve learned them by some other means. You can also cast a warlock spell you know as a ritual if it has the ritual tag. On your adventures, you can add other ritual spells to your Book of Shadows.

When you find such a spell, you can add it to the book if the spell’s level is equal to or less than half your warlock level (rounded up) and if you can spare the time to transcribe the spell. For each level of the spell, the transcription process takes 2 hours and costs 50 gp for the rare inks needed to inscribe it.

spell slot or material components. You must finish a long rest before you can use this invocation on the

next turn. As long as the creature is on the same plane of existence as you, you can use your action on
subsequent turns to maintain this connection, extending the duration until the end of your next
turn.

While perceiving through the other creature’s senses, you benefit from any special senses
possessed by that creature, and you are blinded and deafened to your own surroundings.
